Canada-Global Rating Scale (C-GRS) – Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the Canada-Global Rating Scale (C-GRS)?

The C-GRS is a web-based self-assessment tool that helps endoscopy units evaluate the quality of their services and identify areas for improvement, with a strong focus on patient-centered care.

2. How does the C-GRS assessment work?

  • The survey consists of 12 assessment items across two domains.
  • Each item includes 7–11 Yes/No questions.
  • Responses generate a letter grade per item.
  • For any "No" responses, sites can document action plans to address gaps.
  • A PDF report is automatically generated, summarizing responses and action items for review and planning.

3. How do I sign up for C-GRS?

If you are not already a user, please use the Canada-GRS sign-up link provided on this website. Once you sign up, please notify us whether you will be an active or primary user by sending an email to Nosheen@cag-acg.org. After confirmation, your account will be activated.

4. Who can be an active or primary user?

  • Primary user: The designated lead contact responsible for the site's C-GRS participation.
  • Active user: A site member with access to complete assessments and review results.

5. How much does it cost to participate?

There are two cycles per year, and the cost is $100 per cycle.

6. What are the C-GRS cycles?

  • Spring cycle: March 1 – May 31
  • Fall cycle: September 1 – November 30

⚠️ Note: In 2024, the Spring cycle did not take place due to system maintenance. The Fall 2024 cycle was completed successfully.

For 2025:

  • Spring cycle: April 14 – July 14, 2025
  • Fall cycle: September 4 – November 30, 2025

7. How does the sticker system work?

  • A sticker of recognition is issued each April.
  • To qualify, sites must complete both the Spring and Fall cycles from the previous year.
  • Example: In April 2024, stickers were issued to sites that completed the Fall 2024 cycle. Moving forward, both cycles must be completed to receive a sticker.

8. What if I miss a cycle?

If a site does not complete both cycles within a given year, it will not be eligible for a sticker the following April.

9. How are results used?

The C-GRS results support quality improvement planning by highlighting strengths and identifying areas where action plans are needed. The automatically generated PDF report can be shared with staff, leadership, and accreditation reviewers.

10. What if the survey is submitted and the answer needs to be edited?

Once the survey is completed, it is not possible to go back and edit any answers.
